Sparklers

Contrary to popular thought, sparklers are not just for celebrating the 4TH of July. Although fun on the 4th, sparklers are a wonderful way to celebrate any occasion and add a special flare to even the simplest of events. They bring the feeling of magic to any party, such as, weddings, graduations, and birthdays.

A sparkler produces a beautifully vibrant shower of sparks which burns over a long period of time . . . up to a minute! This is what separates a sparkler from a firecracker. The firecracker creates a controlled explosion and explodes quickly after being lit. The components of a sparkler are also different than a firecracker. The main substances found in a sparkler are an oxidizer, a fuel, a combustible binder, and either iron, steel, aluminum, or another kind of metal powder. Some sparklers may contain other components such as colorants to enhance the effect, look, or chemical reaction of the sparkler.

Most sparklers are made of a thin steel wire or bamboo splint that is dipped in a thick pyrotechnic substance that coats the wire for 2/3 of its length. There should never be signs of rust on your sparklers and the coating should always look smooth.

There are many different types of sparklers on the market today. There are colored sparklers, whistling sparklers, crackling sparklers, and gold sparklers just to name a few. They come in many colors and sizes, creating the perfect atmosphere, helping you celebrate any occasion.
